  • 1. What type of racket is the Havoc S1?

It is a head-heavy racket, meaning that the balance point of the racket is close to the head than the handle of the racket. The balance point is 300-305mm from the base of the handle.

    2. What type of player is it for?

As it is a head heavy racket, it enhances the attacking power of an offensive badminton player. It would be the go to racket for those looking to pack a punch. The 4U (82g) version is suitable for beginners to advanced players, and is for both males and females although. However, we would recommend the 3U (87g) only for those that are physically stronger than average or are intermediate to advanced level players.

    3. What weight is the racket?

It comes in 2 different weights: 4U which is 82g and 3U which is 87g.

    4. Does it come with strings?

Yes, you can select your choice of string and tension before you add to cart. If you're unsure about the type of string or tension, we have recommendations on the order page. Please reach out if you need further clarification as we're happy to give you advice.

Please note that the colour of string used for your order will vary depending on availability.

    5. Does it come with a bag/case?

Yes, every racket comes with a racket bag/case which has a shoulder strap.

    6. How long does it take to be sent out?

As we are offering you customised stringing, we work with a professional stringer who can sometimes be backlogged. Please allow up to 5 business days for your order to be processed and rest assured: we're always trying to get your racket to you as soon as we possibly can!

Please be aware that we are experiencing extended domestic & international shipping times due to global challenges. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

    7. Can I return it?

We want to make sure you're satisfied with your new racket! So you can return it within 30 days of purchase if it is kept in its original condition. Any broken strings unrelated to racket faults are non-refundable. Please see the returns policy here.

Warning: May cause envy and unreturnable smashes and drop shots

So, I ordered the Volant Havoc S1 hoping to raise havoc on the court. What I didn’t expect was for the racquet to turn up looking like it had already been in a singles match with a steamroller. Frame broken. But credit to Volant - they replaced it without a fuss, no interrogation, no form-filling trauma. Just good ol’ customer service.

The new racquet arrived intact (phew!) and strung at 28lbs. It played brilliantly for close to six months before the strings finally surrendered, clearly exhausted from all the glorious smashes I unleashed. And 2 years on, it's still going strong.

Now, I also switch between the Victor Thruster TK-F and this one. I move between them like a badminton ninja - seamlessly. And compared to the Yonex Astrox 77, the Havoc S1 wins for me. The Astrox is solid, but the Havoc feels like it knows me better - like a racquet that actually listens when I complain about my footwork.

Let’s also talk looks: the Havoc is an absolute stunner. That matte black frame paired with crisp red text and graphics makes it look like it means business. String it with black or red and you’ve got a racquet that doesn’t just play well - it intimidates purely by aesthetic.

Would I buy this again? Absolutely.

    As advertised.

The Havoc S1 exists in the difficult market space of head heavy - medium stiff racquets. It has to compete with the likes of the Yonex Astrox 77 series or the Thruster range of racquets from Victor. That doesn't even begin to mention all the price-value racquets from tier 2 and tier 3 manufacturers like APACS or Alpsport.

The Havoc S1 is priced between the Astrox 77 Play and Tour models, but is manufactured in Taiwan (MiT) where the quality control is thought to be higher. When I say "quality", I'm referring to build quality and tolerance to specifications as advertised (e.g., balance point, swing weight, total racquet weight, etc). I think you should consider the Havoc S1 if you are looking at the Astrox line of racquets and don't necessarily have the budget for the "Pro" or "Tour" editions. Having played briefly with an Astrox 77 Pro during a club night, I would say it compares favourably to it, but you probably want to dial in your string tension (see below). Keep in mind, I'm not that picky of a player either.

Definite bonus for the free custom stringing options vs. the really crappy pre-strung stuff in Yonex's Play and Tour models.

I ordered the racquet during the July 2024 sale, but I haven't really had a chance to play with it until October 2024 (shipped to Canada, there is an additional $27 CAD duties and Canada Post processing fee on delivery). Having used it twice, I would say it performs exactly how I would expect to. It's easy to play with and the extra…

I was very excited about my new racquet however on first use the strings broke - to which I sent Volant a photo requesting them to restring the racquet - they responded saying that it happened because of a miss-hit and because of which, no restringing from them.

    Hi Yash,

Thank you for your review and sorry to hear that your strings broke. Unfortunately we do not have control over broken strings when there has been a mis-hit. Strings can definitely break on their first use if the shot has been mis-hit and it happens to all of us! If you'd like some more information about mis-hits, please see this link: https://volantbadminton.com/blogs/volant-community/badminton-strings-break-from-mishits .

We hope that you are able to get your racket re-strung and use it again very soon. If you'd like to reduce the likelihood of mis-hits causing the string to break, we would suggest stringing it at a lower tension and using a thicker gauge string.

All the very best and hope that you enjoy playing with the racket!

Hi Manoj, we're sorry that you haven't had a good expereinece with our Havoc S1. We do suggest that head heavy rackets aren't use for beginners and would recommend a head-light or even-balanced racket instead. Please feel free to use our Racket Quiz to help choose a suitable racket for you. We have also recorded a video on beginners on how to choose a racket too. Please see links below.
