I have been buying shuttles for our club. Most of the shuttles work good, but about 20% are either defective to start with or the feather breaks off with in one game of doubles. Not sure how to fix this problem.
Thanks for your review, Subeer. We will continue to improve our shuttles - we are always trying to find ways to improve the quality and consistency of our shuttles and appreciate your input and feedback.
If we can help further, please let us know. Cheers, The Volant Team
Therr was one shuttle in the tube package, with a damaged feather on it.
It was not a smooth feather, it was scrappy.
The rest of the order was fine.
Very good, even better consistency when steamed for 48 hrs.
Previously I gave a 5 star review and compared the VOLANT Silver shuttles to Yonex AS20 - only 3 star this time for a 50 tube batch - and that's mainly due to the price! ONLY 2 star for durability.
Durability on Club Nights was around 3 tubes per night originally . . . but second batch was nearly 5 tubes per Club Night.
Still good value at $35 per tube, but 5 tubes x$35=$175 and you could buy $58 shuttles (3 tubes x$58=$174)
That said we may try VOLANT Gold - 3 tubes would cost only $135 but using up to 4 tubes would cost $180
DECISIONS?
Can’t give a 5-star review at this stage.
I’ve purchased close to a dozen tubes and am already about halfway through them. Unfortunately, one of the tubes had shuttles with extremely brittle feathers. I'd say 9/12 of them broke not lasting 1 game to 21, not exactly hard hitting games either.
I do recognise that we are advised to humidify them, but I’ve never really had to do that with many other feather shuttles, and I don’t think it should be a requirement just to get reasonable durability. At the very least, they should come out of the box in a more durable condition.
I could also argue that the way the feathers broke suggests the feather quality may not have been great to begin with.
That being said, I’ll continue using them for now. If I place additional orders and the next batch performs well, I’ll happily come back and update this to a 5-star review.
