What's the deal with badminton grip sizes?

Ever seen strange "G" letters on the grip, handle or on your badminton racquet? Well, we're going to tell you what they mean!

Here it is for you readers out there!

Badminton Grip Sizing

The letter "G" defines the size of your racket's grip/handle. This is determined by measuring the circumference of the grip.

For example:

  •      G2: 4.00 inches (10.16cm)
  •      G3: 3.75 inches (9.53cm)
  •      G4: 3.50 inches (8.89cm)
  •      G5: 3.25 inches (8.26cm)

The most common grip size you’ll see in badminton is G4 and G5, typically G5 in Australia.

We like G5 because you can always go bigger by wrapping more grips over the top of it, but you can’t go smaller!

So what clothing should you wear to play badminton? Wear short or skirt with a light synthetic sports T-shirt for Badminton. Avoid tracksuit pants and long-sleeved T-shirts since you'll want to be able to move freely. Avoid 100% cotton materials for any of these. If you're going to play a lot, invest in a pair of Badminton shoes.
